Rules & Scoring

Questions 1 through 5 focus solely on the game you are watching, and are based on players' Second Half statistics for that game.  Question 6, which includes players from all other games being played across the league that day, is based on entire game statistics for those games.  Tiebreaker (Question 7) also applies to the game you are watching.

There are three types of questions that FanHalf will ask:

·         Value-Based Questions based on Statistical Performance

·         True/False Questions

·         Multiple Choice Questions

Value Based:  For questions that ask you to predict a number for the statistical performance for a particular player(s), a numerical value will be assigned to each question that represents the difference between your answer to the question and the actual Second Half result.

Example:  How many Rushing Yards will your team’s Starting Running Back have in the Second Half?  You predict it will be 53 and his actual Second Half performance is 47.  The difference of 6 will be allocated to your Contest Score as 6 FanHalf Points.

Example:  What will be your team's Point Guard's Field Goal Percentage in the Second Half?  You predict it will be 44%, and his actual Second Half performance is 39%.  The difference of 5 will be allocated to your Contest Score as 5 FanHalf Points.

True/False:  for questions that ask you to predict which player will have the highest Second Half value in a given statistic, a correct answer will yield Zero FanHalf Points, and an incorrect answer will yield a penalty of 2 FanHalf Points.

Multiple Choice:  These questions will provide a dropdown list of potential answers to the question.  Similar to True/False Questions, a correct answer will yield Zero FanHalf Points, and an incorrect answer will yield a penalty of 2 FanHalf Points.

An answer left blank for any question will yield a penalty of 25 FanHalf Points.

FanHalf contest scores are tallied by the software.  Points for all questions are updated in real-time during the contest. Final contest points for Questions 1 through 5 are tallied after the conclusion of the game you're watching.  Final contest points for Question 6 are tallied after the conclusion of all other games played across the league that night. At that time the Final Contest Scores for all entrants will register.

In FanHalf, lowest score is the winner.  FanHalf software will generate an email notification to the winner of each contest at the end of the night.

Tiebreaker:  Question 7 serves as tiebreaker.  Question 7 ONLY counts towards Contest score if two or more entries are tied.  If there is still a Contiest tie even with the tiebreaker:

If a contest with three or more players results in a tie, winnings will be split amongst the particpants who tied.

If a Head-To-Head contest between two players results in a tie, all entry fees will be refunded to both players.

Overtime:  in the event that an NBA or NFL game goes to Overtime, FanHalf counts all Overtime statistics towards the Second Half.

MAXIMUM ENTRIES PER GAME:

Each contest will list the maximum number of entries.  Contests that are mulit-entry are marked in the lobby and contest information.

Each listed contest, including the opposite team's perspective of the same game, is a separate contest.  If the same game offers Team Perspectives for both teams, a user may enter a contest from each Team Perspective if desired.

INJURIES:

FanHalf monitors the NFL and NBA Injury Reports on an hourly basis (hey, we love this stuff!) and makes every effort to stage contests that only use players that are projected to play in today's games.

Occasionally, there will be instances where a "late scratch" occurs, and there will be a contest question that pertains to an injured player.  In this instance the user should simply submit "0" for any contest question that pertains to an injured player.

In effect, this will become a free question to any user who has watched the First Half of that game.  Any users who submit an answer other than "0"- shame on them, they're not watching the game!

In these cases make sure you enter a "0" and don't leave the question blank.  Remember a blank answer is a 25 point penalty.
